CDC 25th anniversary celebration kicks-off
CLARK FREEPORT— The 25th anniversary celebration of Clark Development Corporation (CDC) kicked off Monday with flag-raising ceremonies and a motorcade from this Freeport to the cities of Angeles and Mabalacat in Pampanga.
Proclamation 80, which was signed by then President Fidel V. Ramos, designated the CDC as the implementing arm of Clark Special Economic Zone under the Republic Act 7227— the Bases Conversion Act.
The proclamation was signed on April 3 following the twin devastation wrought by the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo in June 1991 and the eventual pull out of the 13th US Air Force at the former Clark Air Base in Pampanga.
Aside from the flag-raising and motorcade, CDC has also prepared other events to commemorate the silver anniversary
in December 18, 2008 by virtue of a writ of continuing mandamus that makes the project imperative and be treated with the highest priority by implementing and attached agencies including DILG, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and Department of Public Works and Highways.
“Conferment of Manila BAYani Awards is based on the results of the Environmental Compliance Audit (ECA),” DILG Regional Director Julie Daquioag sai d.
ECA evaluates the implementation and compliance of cities, municipalities, and barangays to Republic Act 9003 otherwise known as Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.
It also takes into consideration the local initiatives and innovations in environmental preservation.
The winners received plaques of recognition and cash prizes.
Meanwhile, alongside the awarding ceremony was the launch of the Manila Bay Coffee Table Book.
“This book is an anthology of best practices for the environment and implementation of the Manila Bay Clean-up, Rehabilitation and Preservation Project,” Daquioag added.
