CSF bares upcoming, future developments
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO— Fernandinos and the future generations here can now expect a more livable and progressive city.
This, as the city government on Tuesday bared various upcoming projects and future developments during the first Local Development Council (LDC) meeting held Tuesday.
Mayor Edwin Santiago disclosed that the local government unit, with the help of active public-private partners, is optimistic in realizing all the lined-up projects this year until early 2019.
Among the projects the LDC bared include the Civic Center in Barangay San Isidro which will house a permanent evacuation center,
senior citizen center, disaster risk reduction and management command center, Department of Education personnel training and sports complex, city government satellite offices and a city park.
A priority of the Santiago administration is also the establishment of a modern Command and Control Center equipped with a video management system, computer aided dispatch system, cabling for voice facilities to collaborate with the different respondent agencies and LED boards to guide motorists on alternative routes in times of disasters, and enable authorities to immediately respond to crimes, accidents and emergency cases in the city.
In line with its tourism, culture and heritage agenda, the heritage district and market plaza, which are located at the downtown or Poblacion area, will also be redeveloped to attract more tourists and spur economic growth.
The city government also vowed to prioritize the restoration of the San Fernando River along with the construction and beautification of the Riverwalk. This will allow Fernandinos to spend time with nature while enjoying the scenic view of the historic river.
“I enjoin all members of the council to help us create a better environment for our beloved Fernandinos through the implementation of these initiatives. We came up with these plans based on the needs of our city and our constituency,” Santiago said .
Meanwhile, the City Planning and Development Coordinator’s Office disclosed that the proposed 2019 annual investment program totalled to P4.7billion. The City Budget Office, on the other hand, discussed the reversion and realignment of appropriations of the 20 percent Local Development Fund.
Qualifier
Too soon for jubilation though. Malacañang talks of complying with the SC order (as if it had a lawful choice) but it has o a qualifier: “subject to security considerations.”
No one can be sure how much data will be redacted or blackened out for “security consi der at i on s.”
The SC and the public whose interest it is seen to uphold may only trust that enough light will be cast on murky areas of the drug war, which, sadly, has little prospect of being pursued lawfully or ended soon.
