Albayalde is next PNP chief

-

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte has named National Capital Region Police Office chief Oscar Albayalde as the next head of the Philippine National Police (PNP), replacing incumbent Director General Ronald dela Rosa who will finally retire.

Duterte made the announcement in a speech delivered Thursday, April 5, at Palace's Rizal Hall.

"I told Crame, we have new Chief (PNP). I'm going to announce it now. It's Albayalde," the President said.

Albayalde, in an interview, said Thursday he was elated by the trust and confidence given to him by the President.

He thanked Dela Rosa for his support and for endorsing him as his successor.

“I would like to thank him sa kanyang suporta, hindi nya alam na malaking bagay 'yung pageendorse nya sa akin sa ating Presidente, so I want to thank him from the bottom of my heart at ibinigay din nya yung tiwala nya sa akin, so again, i will not betray his trust and confidence," Albayalde said.

Philippine National Police Director for Community Relations Group Chief Superintendent Rhodel Sermonia and PRO-3 Director Chief Superintendent Amador Corpus spearheaded the cascading of the Recovery and Wellness Program among local police stations in Central Luzon during the ceremonial launching held Monday.

Corpus said the community-based recovery and wellness program is expected to lessen anonymity and emphasize more on creating support networks for individuals who wants to recover from drug addiction.

He added that the program is a manifestation of PNP’s continuous support in the rehabilitation and reformation of drug suspects who participated in the administration’s flagship program against illegal drugs.

“This program of the PNP is a clear manifestation that indeed we value and respect the lives of every individual as we help assist and facilitate the complete recovery of these drug dependents in order for them to rejoin and rebuild their lives in the community,” he said.

Corpus also disclosed the PRO-3 is partnering with local anti-drug abuse councils to ensure the successful implementation of program in the grassroots level.

“We are working closely in partnership with the different anti-drug abuse councils down to the barangay anti-drug abuse councils since drug rehabilitation and treatment requires a holistic follow-on recovery program to prevent relapse,” Corpus said.
