-

FRANCIS F. CARREON

Things change from time to time and advancement is inevitable which is something we need to accept and we cannot do anything about it. Utilizing our current resources and be updated with the latest trends in teaching is indeed necessary the this time.

Technological and Livelihood Education (TLE) has paved the way now for carpentry to be offered in the junior high school as one of the exploratory courses and by its nature is dominantly a skill subject and so students must be engaged in an experiential, contextualized, and authentic teaching- learning process. It is a subject where students learn best by doing since it is integrative in approach. Technical Education and Vocational Training is designed to prepare the individuals for specialize skills, abilities, trade, industries, agriculture and business for self-reliance and it is generally linked with manual and practical skills and commonly does not include academic abilities.

Vocational Training mostly includes education and training that emphasis more on manual work and prepares the individuals to perform for jobs that are related to working in a particular industry. Technical and Vocational Education has been an important role for national development of every country because it plays an important role in economic development of any country.

Teachers of Technical and Vocational Education must be reminded to instill in the students values that will help them become more competitive and qualified individuals, with a sense of social awareness on influencing the community.
