DILG gears up against corruption, launches Bantay Kaagapay program
SUBIC FREEPORT– The Department of the Interior and Local Government launched the “Bantay Kaagapay Patungo sa Pag-Unlad” Program on May 3 to 4, 2018, at the Subic Bay Traveler’s Hotel, Subic Freeport Zone.
OIC-Secretary for Interior and Local Government Eduardo M. Año fronted the launch and committed to lead the program and counter corruption in Local Government Units through Bantay Kaagapay.
“This time, we will not be silent and we will defeat corruption”, the OIC-SILG conveyed as he addressed DILG Officers from Regions III, IV-A, and CAR.
The program is a focused approach to curb corruption with three primary components. The first step will be through the education and raising of the local government unit and the general public’s awareness of the anti-corruption measures at the local level.
Second, Bantay Kaagapay will also feature prevention interventions which aim to dramatically lessen, if not totally eliminate, opportunities to commit corruption. Lastly, the program will employ specific deterrence measures that will ensure that corruption-related complaints are being efficiently and properly acted upon.
The second batch of the Bantay Kaagapay launch for the remaining regions in Luzon will be held on May 8-9, 2018, at the Hotel Stotsenberg, Clark Freeport Zone.— DILG Region 3
