Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones called on some 450 members and representatives of its 27 employee groups and associations from all over the country to continuously pursue the Department’s mandates, uphold its core values of “Maka-Diyos, Maka-Tao, Makakalikasan, at Makabansa,” and be the embodiment of “One DepEd.”
The Education Chief reiterated this during the 1st DepEd Employee Associations (DEA) Congress held at the Fontana Leisure Park in Clark, Pampanga.
According to Briones, the DepEd believes that the time has come for everyone to get together.
“After all, we belong to one organization, and this is the Department of Education,” Briones emphasized.
The Secretary took pride in the first ever gathering of DepEd employees including teachers, dentists, doctors, engineers, superintendents, supervisors, principals... to exchange views, make recommendations, and respond to each other on how to further improve employee welfare.
A highlight of the two-day congress was the ceremonial signing of the Collective Negotiation Agreement (CNA) between the DepEd management and the DepEd National Employees’Union (DepEd-NEU).
