INTENSIFY POSITIVITY
NOEMI CHARLYN C. BUTIU
Inevitably, people in all walks of life encounter criticisms. Whether you do good or not, there will always be disparagements. There will always be negative and positive things happening in our life especially in the work place.
There are wins we rejoice and there are mistakes we need to correct. Some people will always ignore the positive and emphasize the negative. Do not give in to this kind of limiting mindset. Criticisms will never go way. Learn to deal with it. Seek the positive always.
Be willing to be corrected and achieve improvement. And try to look at the good in people rather than focusing on their mistake. Most trouble is produced by those who don’t produce anything else. They complain, criticize and suck up the life, and energy of other people. Be positive and be productive. This is the path to joy and happiness.
Therefore, the collective attitude of the learners is a replication of the attitude of the teacher; that being the case, we can change the classroom atmosphere by shifting our own manner, our character, and our attitude. In the words of a renowned author, educator and philosopher Haim Ginnot: “I have come to the frightening conclusion that I am the decisive element in the classroom. It is my personal approach that creates the climate. It is my daily mood that makes the weather. As a teacher I possess a tremendous power to make a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration. I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal. In all situations, it is my response that decides whether a crisis will be escalated or de-escalated and a child humanized or dehumanised.”
