CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - A group of Canadians on Tuesday visited some of the cultural sites in this capital city for an out-ofthe-country art immersion program.

Chantell Schulz, 20, said that their group belongs to a Canadian religious organization which decided to explore the rich culture and history of the Philippines, including the City of San Fernando in Pampanga.

One of their destinations was the famous Himpilang Daang Bakal or the Old Train Station of San Fernando where several World War II artifacts, historical photographs and materials and other art installations are displayed.

“It is very nice here (San Fernando). There are so many old and preserved buildings and the people are also nice, kind and generous,” Schulz said when asked to describe this capital city.

Aside from this, Schulz also expressed her delight over the traditional dishes the tasted in the city, including famous Kapampangan cuisine Sisig (dish made from parts of pig head and liver, usually seasoned with calamansi and chili peppers) and balut (boiled duck egg with embryo).

Meanwhile, Gerben Bosma, 18, described the City of San Fernando as a “nice and very green” place, while highlighting the “very honest, hospitable and caring” attitude of Fernandinos that they experienced.

“I will definitely encourage my friends and family back home to also visit the City of San Fernando when they come here to the Philippines. It is very nice here,” he said.
