- BY PRINCESS CLEA ARCELLAZ Sun.Star Staff Reporter

SAN SIMON - The local government here headed by Mayor Leonora Wong on Tuesday assured the public that it will be impartial on any candidate in the forthcoming barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections.

“As the incumbent local chief executive of San Simon, I assure Simonians that the local government will remain non-partisan in the coming barangay elections. I have also already directed government employees to avoid being tagged to any candidates to prevent problems,” she said.

She furthered that as local chief executive, she will not favor any candidate and will treat everybody, either incumbent, political ally or opposition, fairly to avoid stirring complications, especially once the election is over.

“Personally, every candidate is equal. Whether ally or opposition, I am welcoming them with open

arms, but as much as possible, I limit my communication with them to avoid rumors and speculations,” she said.

Meanwhile, Wong reminded candidates to fight fairly and humanely, and avoid mudslinging, rather just present their platforms and projects and let the Simonian voting public to decide.

“Simonians are smart voters. Discrediting your fellow candidates won’t help you get their votes. It’s better if you present your platforms and let them decide. Let us practice democracy in San Simon,” he urged candidates.
