Guagua to host guitar festival on May 16
GUAGUA— This town is now promoting its guitar industry through its homegrown Guitar Festival by projecting the industry both for its tourism potential and world-class products.
Mayor Dante Torres said that the guitar industry in Barangay San Anton has been the lifeblood of many families for many generations. He added that the industry here has been known for making the best guitars and ukuleles. Guagua guitars have found their way into the hands of local and international artists alike.
Torres said that the industry needs further support now that handcrafted guitars face competition with mass produced brands from other countries. He added that the festival aims to rally local support for the industry and to promote it beyond the confines of the town and its patrons.
The Guitar Festival also aims to draw attention to families and homegrown businesses here and the quality guitars that they sell as the town will be hosting displays and shows to promote the industry. The event is part of the 427th Aldo Ning Balen Guagua events.
The Guitar Festival will be held in the morning while the recognition of the town’s outstanding residents will be held in the afternoon.
