TEACHING AS A PROFESSION

-

FLORANTE C. BANTULA JR.

Teaching is a noble job, it requires a lot of good characters and behavior toward the students in able for the educators to achieve the expectation of society. Despite of all the challenges that they are experiencing in the fields and personal issues, they still manage to balance work to family matters. They are excellent actors in front of their students. They act like a walking encyclopedia, even they’re not, they always smile and jokes around behind the tears in their eyes and always lay their two hands to all students even it is not enough. Passion and dedication are vital in teaching. Understanding each student’s background and behavior are challenge to overcome and work to be done. Good sense of communication with students as well to parents is important to solve issues that may arise from school hours. As teacher, you must always be flexible to attend to the needs of students, your totality as human being plays a significant role in molding the treasure of society.

A lot of teachers when asked, what makes them choose teaching? It seemed that they cannot answer instantly not because they were caught in the act but most answers are-it is their second choice or parent choice. Others say that they never dreamed to become a teacher but found out they are in the field and now teaching for more than a decade. Calling in teaching is real, it is a purpose to be accomplished and endeavor to be survived. The future of the great lies in the hand of the good teacher, that is why expectations to every teacher are very high. They are tagged as the molder of the future, so they lived as role models inside and outside the school premises. They educate not only the students, but they are educators of the entire community.

Teachers are part of every person’s life. They devote their time so much for this vocation and almost forget their own. So, whenever you see a teacher, smile and thank them, a simple gesture that can make a difference in every devoted teacher out there.
