SSS seeks arrest of three Dagupan delinquent employers

-

DAGUPAN, Pangasinan— The Social Security System (SSS) has started its crackdown on delinquent employers in the regions by serving warrants of arrest to three erring employers in this province on May 4.

SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Emmanuel F. Dooc said the state-pension fund is working closely with the Philippine National Police (PNP) to serve the warrants of arrest issued by the courts against employers who violated the Social Security Law.

“We already sent an ultimatum and it’s about time that these employers face legal consequences for disregarding their employees’right to social security,” Dooc said.

One of the arrest warrants issued was due to non-remittance of SSS contributions by Arlene E. Alcantara, a commercial printing business owner. However, when the PNP and SSS Team went to serve the warrant, Alcantara was not around, and instead found her sister, Almira S. Erguiza.

Erguiza, who said she was unaware of Alcantara’s whereabouts, promised to visit SSS Dagupan branch to pay her sister’s total delinquency of P522,152.58.

The other warrants of arrest were for nonregistration of business by Jennifer B. Teodoro, a cellphone retail business owner, and Mary Joy C. Guitang, an ukay-ukay owner. However, both arrest warrants were not served because Teodoro and Guitang could not be found.

“We appeal to the public to help us locate Teodoro and Guitang who have pending obligations not only to SSS but also to their employees. Let us work hand in hand to keep these employers accountable for their duties, and to let the full force of the law take its course,” Dooc concluded.

Dooc shared that in Metro Manila, the pension fund was able to collect P14.68 million from the arrest of three delinquent employers last year.

The SSS Team, headed by Dooc, has also posted show cause orders at six non-compliant business establishments during the Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) Campaign held earlier on the same day in Dagupan City. (Press Release)
