Pampanga eyes top passer in SGLG performance anew
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Pampanga Provincial Director Myrvi Fabia is optimistic that Pampanga will maintain again its rank as a top passer of the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG).
The statement was made during the provincewide roll-out and orientation for the SGLG Award 2018 held at Max’s Restaurant, Villa Del Sol here on Thursday.
Fabia, concurrent DILG assistant regional director for Central Luzon, added that it is a pride for Pampanga to be consistent SGLG top passer percentage-wise in the region.
“Of course we take pride in being the top performer in this award, but it is also a big challenge for us on how we can maintain our streak,” she sai d.
The provincial roll-out is the first to be held in the region after the SGLG regional roll-out last May 8 this year. Fabia said this is for the province to prepare earlier and longer the requirements for the said award.
To qualify for the SGLG 2018, a province must meet the minimum requirements in financial administration; disaster preparedness; social protection; peace and order; business-friendliness and competitiveness; environmental management; and tourism, culture, and arts.
Fabia is also thankful for the support of Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda and Pampanga Mayors’ League president and Lubao Mayor Mylyn PinedaCayabyab. She said that because of their support, the local government units (LGUs) of the province are seen with good governance.
Other participants in the event are the planning officers and administrators of the LGUs, Capitol department heads, and officials.
Last 2016, Pampanga was given recognition as the top passer for Central Luzon and having the highest percentage of passers nationwide with 61.90 percent. Last year, 16 out of 21 provinces were awarded the seal and is eyeing for a 100 percent passing rate.— Philip Ocampo/ Pampanga PIO
