MOVING IN A POSITIVE DIRECTION

-

EVELYN D. MERCADO

How do we keep our teaching effective? We have to remain connected and curious, at the same time build a community within our classrooms.

Schools should encourage educators to explore national and global online learning opportunities. We should make time despite the busy world we’re in, so that we don’t struggle with the basics.

Let’s find resources – both physical and virtual – to help us stay motivated. While we stay enthusiastic in our teaching, we should also prepare for the unexpected. This will benefit our students and they will appreciate your continued efforts to at least try connecting with them beyond the classroom.

We should be willing to connect with and learn about our colleagues. While getting to know our students is important, but so is being familiar with our colleagues. Knowing our co-educators can go a long way.

Let’s stay motivated and connected to professionals in the field of education. This is essential to becoming the ultimate motivator of our students.

We should be flexible and ready for the unexpected. There are situations out of control, so let’s not be quick to jump to conclusions.

It’s also imperative that we learn to speak up and step up. Our voices should be heard. After all, we carry with us a set of skills so we should figure out how our skill set can best be used in a classroom setting.

And also, let’s remain curious of our surroundings. A lot has changed in the education sector over the years, and we should not be left behind. Let our curiosity motivate us to move in a positive direction.
