INVOKE COMMUNITY SUPPORT FOR EDUCATION
“It takes a village to raise a child.”
Since the long term program of the educational system is the development plan, a network of leadership and governance collaboratively developed by the school and the community, the school should mobilize the community support.
Clear structure and work arrangement shall define the responsibilities of the stakeholders and the support they should extend to the school.
How success can be achieved?
The school should have a written plan of action when meeting regularly with the P.T.A. It should coordinate regularly to the barangay institution regarding the students’ welfare in their area e.g. social condition, special needs and physical labor. It should identify and list the support of community organizations to help in raising funds and resources for learning. One concrete example of community participation to the school’s programs, projects and activities was the recently concluded Brigada Eskwela where all school’s personnel, parents, students, barangay and PTA officials, Alumni and other education stakeholders work hand in hand to better serve the learners for this school year.
Moreover, parents – teachers conferences in the school should be encouraged periodically for parents. This way, they can discuss with the teachers the learning experiences and progress of their student thus improving their academic performance and decreasing the drop-out rate of the school.
