ON LEADERSHIP
Leadership plays a vital role in the society. Leaders are everywhere, from government to politics, churches, schools, and corporations. The kind of leader an institution has can shape the whole institution. Unfortunately for the world, it is running out of good leaders with high morals and good characters, integrated with intelligence and strong leadership skills.
The thing with us people is that sometimes, we tend to build up a leader, we make him a hero but just one wrong move, we can also break him down. It's because we are looking for perfection, we are looking for someone who can make a change without us getting involved or with us just merely watching his moves.
The leaders of the past centuries are infused with intelligence and a sincere heart for change while the leaders now are overflowing with intelligence but unfortunately, it is mixed by greed. And that is the thing missing with our leaders. There’s too much intellect, but lack of passion. There’s too much inclination with technology, but lack of interaction with people. There’s too much greed, but lack of empathy with other people's needs.
Our-present day leaders, according to the text read, are neither heroes nor villains; they are victims. Yes, they are victims to the public's definition of a perfect leader. They are also victims in a way that they tend to follow the footprints of those bosses or leaders who become successful by driving their people to the limit. And why are there people who look up to this kind of leaders? Simply because people think it works. That leading people with fear works and if they become soft, they think that others will not take them seriously.
"Be what you are, and don't lose it... It's very hard to be who we are, because it doesn't seem to be what anyone wants." And in leadership if what you are can lead people to the right path, then be it.
Yes, idealism is easier to lose when you are in a situation where you are surrounded by people with greed and money as their driving forces. But a good leader can still work with those people with his good intention still intact. Only a true leader can make people realize that success is not credited only for those who are on the top but it is for everybody who is involved in the organization.
