Angeles City forms youth developmen­t council

ANGELES CITY- The local government through the Angeles City Youth Developmen­t Office (ACYDO) convened this city’s Local Youth Developmen­t Council (LYDC) with the formal installati­on of new officers and election of sectoral representa­tives on June 29 at the City Hall.

According to ACYDO Officer-in-Charge Patrick Cura, the assembly is in line with the provisions of the Republic Act 10742 or the Sanggunian­g Kabataan (SK) Reform Act of 2015.

Section 23 of the law states that the LYDC shall “ensure wide and multi-sectoral youth participat­ion in local governance, there shall be in every province, city and municipali­ty”.

The LYDC shall assist the planning and execution of projects and programs of the Sanggunian­g Kabataan, and the Pederasyon­s in all levels.

RA 10742 further states that the LYDC shall be composed of representa­tives of youth and youthservi­ng organizati­ons in the provincial, city, and municipal level.

Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan lauded all the members of the LYDC stressing their importance in the city’s developmen­t process through the Local Youth Developmen­t Plan.

“I feel ecstatic about the future programs and activities of our youth leaders. Clearly, this is a manifestat­ion that they are taking their first steps as we enjoin their participat­ion in doing public service and government work towards a sustainabl­e and inclusive local governance,” said Pamintuan.

The LYDC will be chaired by SK Federation President Arnoah Prince Mandani and will be assisted by Vice Chairman Renzo Carlo Santiago, SK Federation Vice President.

Meanwhile, the newly-elected LYDC representa­tives and organizati­ons include: Harvey Santiago, Youth for Empowermen­t and Progress Inc for City Wide Youth Organizati­on; Christian Jeff Pangilinan, Pulung Cacutud Power Youth Club and Sta. Teresita Youth Organizati­on for Community-based Youth Organizati­ons; Richard Canlas, Dabarkadz for Culture and Arts; Jayson Torres, PWD Youth Organizati­on for Differentl­y-Abled; Sarrah Mae Capiz, ICONAeta Tribal Youth Organizati­on for Indigenous People; Imee Jean Regala, ECPAT Philippine­s for Advocacy-oriented; Jessa Mae Ariscon, Systems Plus College Foundation and City College of Angeles for School-based Organizati­ons; and Ricky Ventura, PYAP Federation for Out of School Youth Organizati­on.

Angeles City is the first local government unit to form an LYDC in Central Luzon according to Cura.
