Pinoy pride or not? PH flag shares the limelight in new music video

Social media went all avid when Korean idol group ‘Momoland’released their new music video for yet another hit-song— ‘Baam.’And as teased by a preview, it featured bits of Philippine culture, among other foreign cultural representations.

Social media went thrilled to see a snippet of fan favourite Nancy Mcdonie in front of a backdrop filled with images of jeepyneys while holding our national flag.

And why not? A lot of netizens believe that holding one’s national flag is such huge respect. South Korea and Philippines have been good friends for a long time. But this is some next level of love and respect. More so, this shows how they also love, feel connected and appreciate our r ace.

But as expected, not everyone was pleased. Apparently, some were bothered that the use of the flag and its images could be against the law.

@mrgxenarao bluntly said in a mix of Filipino and English: “People are hyping it up, ‘Proud to be Pinoy?’But you didn’t listen to your Grade 8 teacher! That’s (using the flag) against the law.”

While she may seem just busting the bubble, she’s not entirely wrong because our law states that our flag cannot be used for any advertisements and infomercials — whether or not music videos fall under this is unclear.

But others are just too happy to care. Yes they are. Nonetheless, one thing is for sure: The power of Filipino parents and their toddlers are blasting that song on repeat.

Targeting Filipinos is indeed an efficient way for something to get online traction. Because our country no matter how small it is geologically, it has the strength to make anything go trending, keep it for days, a week, or maybe more.
