ON SOME WORK ETHICS

-

DONNA INOCENCIA D. MANLUTAC

Work ethics is of great vitality in an organization. An employee who is competent and possesses a good attitude is certainly an asset in the profession. Being intelligent is not the only important thing that an employee must have.

One essential work ethics is punctuality and attendance. This is indeed an attitude that must be possessed by the workers. A professional is someone who would not abuse his leave privileges or wouldn’t think of being absent without a valid reason.

For, when a worker would be absent, the whole organization is affected in terms of their productivity. There are some workloads be delayed and some things would be left undone or uncomplished.

Paired with attendance is punctuality. Punctuality means being on time not only in arrival to the workplace but also in accomplishing the tasks and report before the deadline. We must not be negligent in doing our responsibilities as they may also affect the organization’s productivity in general.

Another thing to point out in terms of works ethics is maintaining good relationship with others. We must work well with others, especially with our colleagues. We must establish good rapport so we could harmoniously work effectively leading to the organization’s success. However, we must still have demarcation line between your co-workers’professional and personal relationship. Make sure to avoid dispute. If arguments happen, settle them in an appropriate place without having to affect what is intended to be done.

The key to these is by showing respect to others so in return, you would also gain respect. Treat each one as your neighbor and friends. And of course, always apply the golden rule, “Do unto others what you want others to unto you.”
