ON TEACHER’S PERSPECTIVE

-

LARMIE E. DELA PEÑA

The reward of teaching reveals on the number of success stories told by learners. Those meaningful classroom episodes in the lives of the learners are attributed to a teacher who taught and shaped learners be God fearing and law abiding. This simply manifests that a teacher has the power to produce all kinds of professions.

It is relative to reconfigure that a teacher who selflessly dedicates herself in the teaching profession should always bring great love and understanding to his learners. He should not only detain himself within the sphere of academic intelligence but also on ethical standards and emotional quotient that affect learning. The display of understanding and connection of teachers to the learners is one admirable trait that a teacher should possess. A teacher who is so encouraging in the classroom propels learners to attain greater heights. This only means that he pronounces his thoughts with sincerity and integrity to his learners whom they feel and later will translate these practices into good behavior.

One daily challenge nowadays in the educative system is how a teacher moulds learners become employable in the future and on how they can acquire the needed skills and competencies for them to become functional individuals as well. This happens perhaps when a teacher considers his learners as his own children. That there is no regret and complaint every time he discovers struggling learners who poorly need help and attention. He will pay so much patience and passion for them to effect learning at all costs because he barely wants the best for them. If this becomes a guiding principle, it is guaranteed that no child is left behind.

Gone those days where a teacher manipulates the entire discussion. With the curricular reforms introduced in the 21st century, Educational system in the country had subscribed to global standards of learning. A teacher who steps in the classroom becomes a facilitator and allows his learners to discover and explain the concepts in the lessons. Facilitative instruction has become an effective approach to liberate and enhance learners’skills and potentials. This framework is holistic in nature for it covers all the needed competencies that learners should acquire.

As a matter of perspective, a teacher with great love is expected to never stop in finding feasible measures and interventions in order to facilitate effective, relevant and responsive instruction. He should be sensitive to the diverse needs and learning styles of the learners. If these deliverables are deemed, a teacher is likely exhibiting genuine commitment in the teaching profession and sincerely conforming to the noble advocacy of DepEd to continuously build A Child-and-Community Centered Education System.
