HARNESSING MASTER TEACHERS TOWARD PUPIL AND STAFF DEVELOPMENT
JOCELYN S. SAN PEDRO
Quality education, is that even obtainable nowadays? Some experts say that the quality of education is deteriorating at a rapid rate. Now we are confronted with weakening of social system across the world. They say values are no longer considered for quality education they have become redundant.
So where does the role of a master teacher come into play? Master Teachers start where their students are, know where their students are going; expect to get their students to their goal; support their students along the way; use feedback to help them and their students get better; focus on quality and work harder than their constituents and students. If they are slacking then why are they called “Master Teachers” in the first place.
Master Teachers also need professional development to support the goals of the early childhood program. Whenever possible, they should be trained by curriculum developer using different trainings/ models. This will help to ensure sustainable and high quality curriculum implementation. The government’s role in this endeavor cannot be discounted. It should commensurate the Master Teachers with the services they render and provide.
