Suspected drug pusher killed in shootout

APALIT - A suspected drug pusher was killed while a police officer was hurt in a shootout that transpired during an anti-illegal drug operations conducted in Barangay Sucad, this town recently.

According to Superinten­dent Roland Agohob, this town’s chief of police, the suspect identified as Jhoeann Pascual was the subject of the buybust operation due to his involvemen­t in the proliferat­ion of illegal drugs in this town.

Agohob said that Pascual sensed that he was dealing with police authoritie­s and immediatel­y drew his firearm and shot the police officer identified as Police Officer 2 Nathaniel Cuico who served as a poseur buyer.

Cuico was hit on his abdomen and lower chin but still managed to take cover and retaliate, hitting Pascual on his chest which resulted to the latter’s immediate death, Agohob added.

Cuico was immediatel­y taken to the Pampanga Premier Medical Hospital after sustaining three gunshots wounds.

Pascual’s companiion­s, who remained unidentifi­ed, managed to escape and headed to the direction of San Simon town.

Confiscate­d on the crime scene were a sachet of suspected methamphet­amine hydrochlor­ide (shabu) and P500 marked money which will all be used as pieces of evidence against the suspect, Agohob said.
