Sus­pected drug pusher killed in shootout

APALIT - A sus­pected drug pusher was killed while a po­lice of­fi­cer was hurt in a shootout that tran­spired dur­ing an anti-il­le­gal drug op­er­a­tions con­ducted in Barangay Su­cad, this town re­cently.

Ac­cord­ing to Su­per­in­ten­dent Roland Ago­hob, this town’s chief of po­lice, the sus­pect iden­ti­fied as Jhoeann Pas­cual was the sub­ject of the buy­bust op­er­a­tion due to his in­volve­ment in the pro­lif­er­a­tion of il­le­gal drugs in this town.

Ago­hob said that Pas­cual sensed that he was deal­ing with po­lice author­i­ties and im­me­di­ately drew his firearm and shot the po­lice of­fi­cer iden­ti­fied as Po­lice Of­fi­cer 2 Nathaniel Cuico who served as a poseur buyer.

Cuico was hit on his ab­domen and lower chin but still man­aged to take cover and re­tal­i­ate, hit­ting Pas­cual on his chest which re­sulted to the lat­ter’s im­me­di­ate death, Ago­hob added.

Cuico was im­me­di­ately taken to the Pam­panga Pre­mier Med­i­cal Hos­pi­tal af­ter sus­tain­ing three gun­shots wounds.

Pas­cual’s com­pani­ions, who re­mained uniden­ti­fied, man­aged to es­cape and headed to the di­rec­tion of San Si­mon town.

Con­fis­cated on the crime scene were a sa­chet of sus­pected metham­phetamine hy­drochlo­ride (shabu) and P500 marked money which will all be used as pieces of ev­i­dence against the sus­pect, Ago­hob said.
