Irrigation project for AC water shed area set
ANGELES CITY — A newly-formed organization is set to implement an irrigation project for the Sapang Bato water shed area.
The Aguman Ding Talaingat Danum, Incorporated, which is composed of environmentalists and professionals in Angeles City and other areas in Pampanga has initiated the construction of water system project through hydraulic ramp pump.
Members of the alliance, headed by former Angeles City Councilor Louie Reyes, has organized the green group “to promote water resources protection, conservation, utilization and development activities among residents of Angeles City, Pampanga, Tarlac and to other interested individuals and groups with similar concerns.”
The organization will also work to identify critical land areas like the Sapang Bato Water Shed for reforestation.
Reyes said the construction of the ram pump at the Fourth Crater area in Sitio Target, which costs almost P1.4 million, will be funded by various donor s.
The project will be handled by the Alternative Indigenous Development Foundation Incorporated (AIDFI) which is based in Mansilingan, Bacolod City. Last March 7, 2018, a team from the AIDFI, led by Felix Inocencio, already conducted an initial survey in the area to determine the location of the ram pump and its distribution lines, according to Reyes.
AIDFI will produce pre-fabricated material needed in the construction of the ram pump, Reyes added. A hydraulic ram or hydram is a cyclic water pump powered by hydropower. It takes in water at one hydraulic head and flow rate and outputs water at a higher hydraulic head and lower flow rate. “Ram pump uses no electricity or fuel, just gravity,” Reyes said.
