CSF holds 5th SAFRUN
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO— The City Government of San Fernando through its City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMO) over the weekend held the fifth “SAFRUN” at the Heroes Hall grounds to sustain its campaign on disaster preparedness and culminate National Disaster Resilience Month.
This year ’s “SAFRUN” was participated in by more than 400 runners coming from the city and neighboring towns and provinces.
Mayor Edwin Santiago said the participation of Fernandino and nonFernandino runners for this year’s “SAFRUN” does not only equate to their support to the event itself, but also to the city’s campaign of being prepared in times of disasters.
“We thank all runners who joined us not only for SAFRUN but for helping us raise awareness on safety and disaster preparedness,” said Santiago.
“SAFRUN” Year 5 top finishers include Abegail Manzano and Marcelino Guleng for 3k female and male categories, respectively; Leonalyn Raterta and James Ordunia for 5k female and male categories, respectively; while for the 10k female Category, Luisa Raterta was hailed as top finisher alongside with Chirchir Jackson for the male category.
Having an increased number of runners for this year, compared to 2017’s 300 participants, the CDRRMO hopes to see more enthusiasts in the coming years.
