TSU renews pact with DOLE as job placement office
CITY OF TARLAC – The Tarlac State University (TSU) over the weekend renewed its ties with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) as an institutionalized job placement office ( JPO) .
DOLE Regional Director Zenaida Angara-Campita reported to Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III that a memorandum of agreement (MOA) was signed between the DOLE and TSU for this joint endeavor.
“We are happy to forge our partnership anew with the Tarlac State University in our common goal of bridging employment and livelihood opportunities closer to students, would-be graduates, and its graduates,” AngaraCampita said.
Under the MOA, the DOLE shall provide technical assistance on various employment services such as talent-mapping, career advocacy, employment coaching, labor market information (LMI), and livelihood programs.
The labor department shall likewise develop and maintain performance-based and gender responsive indicators to assess and evaluate the effectiveness of the National Employment Service Facilitation Networks (NESFNs).
TSU, for its part as a JPO, shall provide non-fee charging employment facilitation services to its students and graduates in coordination with the Tarlac City Public Employment Service Office (PESO). It shall likewise provide LMI referral and placement services for local employment as well as initiate and organize job fairs under the guidelines set by the DOLE.

Lastly, it will coordinate and promote the adoption of the labor department’s Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) and other similar youth programs for poor but deserving students. DOLE Tarlac Field Office head Aurita Laxamana said that the DOLE, PESO, and TSU will be in close coordination to ensure the proper delivery of its programs.
“We will work hand in hand with TSU and Tarlac City PESO to strengthen the provision of employment assistance to clients, particularly for special groups, such as TSU’s students, disadvantaged workers such as persons with disabilities, and displaced workers, and those covered by Republic Act No. 10911 or Anti-Age Discrimination in Employment Act,” Laxamana explained.
Laxamana, pitching in for Angara-Campita, joined TSU President Dr. Myrna Mallari and Tarlac PESO Manager Nida Duco in signing the MOA for TSU’s institutionalization as a JPO.
