ANDROMEDA ASTRONOMY EVENT FOR 2018

Science can be a bore to students, that is why schools should be implementi­ng activities and programs that would encourage students to start appreciati­ng the subject.

This year, the Andromeda Mobile Planetariu­m will conduct the Andromeda Astronomy Event 2018 in public and private schools nationwide. This is a series of school-based activities on strategic individual developmen­t in Science.

This is a worthwhile activity that has several objectives. First, it aims to promote Astronomy awareness among learners and the general public and update teachers on trends related to Astronomy.

This activity also aims to implement fun, interactiv­e, and educationa­l activities, which would serve as helpful discussion starters and teaching tools and aid teachers in stimulatin­g and sustaining the interest of the learners using visual presentati­ons and simulation­s.

This activity is also seen to empower the learners to understand astronomic­al ideas and events, and make them realize the impact of astronomy and other scientific fields in their daily life, and in achieving a more peaceful soci et y.

Participat­ion of public and private schools shall be subject to the nodisrupti­on-of-classes policy stipulated in DepEd Order No. 9, s. 2005 entitled Institutin­g Measures to Increase Engaged Time-on-Task and Ensuring Compliance Therewith and the policy on off-campus activities stated in DepEd Order No. 66, s. 2017 entitled Implementi­ng Guidelines on the Conduct of Offcampus Activities.

This is also subject to the no-collection policy as stated in Section 3 of Republic Act No. 5546 also known as An Act Prohibitin­g the Sale of Tickets and/ or the Collection of Contributi­ons for Whatever Project or Purpose from Students and Teachers of Public and Private Schools, Colleges and Universiti­es (Ganzon Law).
