Mexico South District has started validating the School – Based Management (SBM) Level of Practice of each school within their based from the four principles of SBM at Mexico, Pampanga last August 10.

The District SBM Validation was headed by the Public Schools District Supervisor of Mexico South , Dr. Edna L. Severo, with its 14 School Heads and 1 District SBM Coordinator.

Three out of 14 schools in the district were already validated, namely San Antonio Elementary School, Laug Elementary School and Sta. Maria Elementary School.

The 30% of the rating is based on the Physical Facility of the school while the remaining 60% is based on the Document AnalysisObservation and Discussion of the four principles.

The four principles of SBM includes Leadership and Governance, Curriculum and Instruction , Accountability and Continuous Improvement and the Management of Resources.

Schools with a final rating of Level 2 will be recommended for the Division SBM Validation this coming September.

According to DepEd (Department of Education) Division of Pampanga, SBM Validation is truly essential to all schools because it highlights their best practices and could show how they function as an educational institution.

School-based management (SBM) is a strategy to improve education by transferring significant decision-making authority from state and district offices to individual schools. SBM provides principals, teachers, students, and parents greater control over the education process by giving them responsibility for decisions about the budget, personnel, and the curriculum. It is also based on Republic Act No. 9155 also known as Governance of Basic Education Act of 2001.
