-

MARIA RICIA B. NAVARRO

The implementation of. The Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN), otherwise known as Republic Act 10963, starting January 1, 2018, is really beneficial to Filipino employees, including teachers.

TRAIN is now a law after President Rodrigo Duterte signed it last December 19, 2017. TRAIN is part of the Comprehensive Tax Reform Program (CTRP) which aims to create a more just, simple, and more effective system of tax collection.

Under TRAIN Law, teachers can now have a bigger take home pay which they can use for other expenditures.

In a public school, there are times teachers spend their personal money in the development of instructional materials, and even for the allowance of their pupils who need some support. This additional net pay is a great way to help teachers help their pupils.

The current tax reform makes the Filipino feel the concern of the government for its citizen. The lowering and removal of tax depending on the salary is a relief to the Filipinos who find it difficult to manage their salaries because of the countless needs for survival.

Teachers commend the government for its accomplishment of making Filipino feel that the government is working towards the welfare of its citizen. Teachers are one with government in making the Philippines a country of progress and development.
