Tarlac City holds disaster preparedness seminar for PWDs
TARLAC CITY — The City government of Tarlac recently conducted a disaster preparedness seminar for about 80 persons with disabilities (PWDs).
“Organized by the City Social Welfare and Development Office and City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, this activity aims to equip PWDs with proper knowledge on how to handle emergency situations particularly calamities,” Mayor Cristy Angeles said.
“This is also a promise that I will empower every Tarlaqueño with this relevant information so that no one will be left behind especially in times of distress and worries,” she added.
Topics discussed include overview of natural hazards such as typhoons, earthquakes and landslides as well as having emergency preparedness kits.
Meanwhile, about 160 students of Batang-Batang Integrated School participated in the launching of the city government’s Angel Values Formation against Illegal Drugs and Insurgency Program.
“This program, which we are holding in partnership with the Philippine National Police, seeks to provide sufficient information on the ill effects of prohibited drugs to one’s health and the society as well as the consequences of drug users and pushers,” Angeles said.
It likewise featured discussions from the Armed Forces of the Philippine regarding its Anti-Insurgency Campaign.
Tarlac City Chief of Police PSupt. Joel Mendoza said this is one of the programs of the city government in support to President Duterte’s Anti-Illegal Drug drive.
