SAP keynotes 69th Pampanga Press Club anniversary
CLARK FREEPORT — Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go keynoted Wednesday the 69th founding anniversary of the Pampanga Press Club and the second anniversary of its online new portal iOrbit.
In his speech, Go highlighted the significant contribution of the organization and its members in delivering news to the public and in developing their ideas.
“In its almost seven decades of existence, Pampanga Press Club has welcomed and nurtured respected names in journalism, thus its impact on the social and political landscape of the province and even of the country cannot be disregarded,” he said.
Go also commended the press club for being able to come up and sustain its online portal.
“Being in the world wide web shows that you are dynamic and innovative. You embrace technology and adapt to the times so that you can continue serving the public,” he added.
In his message, he also said that while the government and media have different view most of the times, he believes that he was invited because the press club wants an honest and open relationship with the government.
“We support you in your pursuit for truth within the boundaries of the law. We will provide you with all the information and assistance that you need. The government fully supports and protects you. In fact, we have a task force against media killings,” he said.
In closing, he challenged the Kapampangan journalists to continue with their programs and projects to benefit both the public and their profession.
The celebration bears the theme “Informing the Public through Responsible Journalism”.
