A MAN OF EDUCATION

-

MARIFE L. DIZON

WHEN do we say that a person is educated? Or what makes up a man of education? Based on personal experience, I’ve met different people from all walks of life, yet I find it difficult to recognize who really is the man of education.

There are those who had finished a degree, some with masteral and so on, but what they posses are just mere knowledge. They posses both specialized and general knowledge which is not known to all, they speak intelligently and seem to know everything yet they lack one special trait which is very important in dealing with other people. That’s why sometimes we often hear other people say “They have gone to school but they are not educated”.

However there are people, who are not lucky enough to go to school or they have gone to school but they are unfortunate to continue or finished schooling because of financial crisis and other hindrances, yet they know how to deal with others. They possess the right attitude in dealing with the situation or a person. Though they don’t finish their studies, they possess the attitude of an educated man.

An educated man is not necessarily one who has an abundance of general or specialized knowledge. An educated man is one who has develop that he may acquire anything he wants, or its equivalent, without violating the right of others.
