VALUES: A CONTAGIOUS SOCIAL PROBLEM

As the Bible says, parents have a God-given responsibility to train their child in the way he should go. Our home is the first school and parents as their first teacher in nurturing the child to become valuesoriented. The school plays also a vital role in developing the child’s behavior. Without proper discipline, children are in danger to different kinds of behavioral and emotional problems.
Nowadays, values formation to a child is quite difficult for some parents because of the different gadgets they are using like cellphones where in games are being watched and played which is time consuming and they can no longer do and attend some activities. That’s why proper parenting is needed in order to combat behavioral problems. Likewise classroom discipline is important to achieve effective learning and well-rounded learners. Teachers play an important role in nurturing and developing a child’s character. Teachers as their second parent in school must influence the child positively be it social, emotional, physical and psychological. The teacher should be a role model for the child to imitate. The teacher must be always alert to handle such disciplinary actions with impartiality and sympathy. Showing love, care, respect and protection to a child will bring effective discipline.
There are some ways on how to discipline a child like giving them certain rewards or incentives, giving them instructions for the Do’s and Don’ts to follow. As much as possible, temper should be hold and avoid physical punishment because this will lead to psychological problems like hatred, violence and low self-esteem.
Human Dignity should prevail in order the child to behave well. Respect and teach them to be God-fearing, a loving person and will positive attitude toward others starting from an early age because positive languages to a child will bring happiness to a child and keep him in a sound mind and body. Leading to produce a good citizen of the land.
