OFW, jeep­ney driver nabbed in buy-bust

STA. ANA - An over­seas Filipino worker (OFW) and a jeep­ney driver were ar­rested by lo­cal au­thor­i­ties here for their al­leged in­volve­ment in the il­le­gal drug trade dur­ing a buy-bust op­er­a­tion launched in Barangay San Isidro here re­cently.

Se­nior In­spec­tor Michael Chavez led the an­ti­il­le­gal drug op­er­a­tion which re­sulted to the ar­rest of Don­suit Oronse, 46, jeep­ney driver, and Jo­jit Mayor, 38, an OFW who is in the only in the coun­try for a va­ca­tion.

Chavez said that Oronse was the sub­ject of the op­er­a­tion after re­ports reach­ing the po­lice sta­tion tagged the lat­ter for his par­tic­i­pa­tion in the pro­lif­er­a­tion of il­le­gal drugs in this town.

Mayor, mean­while, was ar­rested after get­ting caught in the act of buy­ing a sa­chet of sus­pected

metham­phetamine hy­drochlo­ride (shabu) from Oronse, Chavez added.

Seized from the duo’s pos­ses­sion were 11 sa­chets of sus­pected shabu, var­i­ous drug para­pher­na­lia, and the P500 marked money used in the op­er­a­tion.

Mayor and Oronse are cur­rently de­tained in this town’s po­lice sta­tion and will be fac­ing charges for vi­o­la­tion of Sec­tions 5 and 11 of the Repub­lic Act 9165 or the Com­pre­hen­sive Dan­ger­ous Drugs Act.
