Why do need to reinforce positive discipline? Do students work in more controlled way if you will apply this?

I remember one situation in my class wherein I am dealing with the last section. They are unruly. They are totally different. They are noisy. My frustration level is very high. That every time I entered the classroom, I see to it that my blood pressure is normal. I always shout, I always call their attention. I cannot start or even continue the lessons because of their behavior. Until one time, we attended a conference, and one of the speakers talk about positive discipline. Instead of controlled behavior, why not self-control and positive approach? Instead of consequences or punishments, why not words of encouragement?

Instead of controlling the behavior of students, teachers can use positive disciplineto develop a child's behaviors through self-control and making positive choices . ... In the end, positive discipline can help shape a child, by using encouragement rather than meaningless and even painful consequences, like punishment. That probably, their attitude and actions will be based on how they will response to a given situation. If they will give negative answers, why not try positive feedbacks? And I found out that “their angers, their emotional reactions are based on the situation they are dealing with. They need justice to their sentiments. Justice to correct what is wrong and to response what is right.

There are times that plans do not go according to how you would like them to be executed. But I am teacher. The future of these students depends on me. Quitting will never be the answer, but rather clinging to them, understanding them, and giving them the right education, will always be the solution.

Positive discipline reinforces students to work harder. Motivate them to attend their classes. We don’t need students to just follow and obey our commands, but rather the one who strives and have better attitude.
