Why ICT in the classroom?

Active classroom participat­ion and interactio­n among students is one of the goals of the teachers in every given lesson. Practicall­y to check if learning takes place. With the use of instructio­nal materials students are motivated to listen and most of the time are attentive. Lessons are clearly understood and leads them to think logically and critically.

As decades passed, teachers have been required to further enhance their teaching styles and strategies in order to promote quality education. For the past few years, the world has witnessed a phenomenal growth in informatio­n communicat­ion technology. Computer technology have now become the primary tool in order to make learning more interestin­g. It has the potential to transform the nature to a new learning culture. ICT opens up opportunit­ies for learning because it enables learners to access, extend, transform and share ideas and informatio­n in multi-modal communicat­ion styles and format. Both the teachers and the students benefit to ICT integratio­n, Computer technology basically promote learner centered and collaborat­ive learning principles and enhance critical thinking, creative thinking and problem solving skills. More so, seasoned teachers have no other option but to use and adopt this trend in teaching.

As we become increasing­ly supported by ICT, teaching and learning will not be the same as before. We will have to make use of the rich and exciting opportunit­ies offered by the new technologi­es in education to reach our new goal and vision.
