ESSENTIAL ICT-RELATED NEEDS IN TEACHING SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL SCIENCE

Information and Communication technology (ICT) has become very essential in teaching nowadays. This brought huge change both in teaching and learning process. Hence, ICT becomes more in demand in educational system. It is important that we know the proper utilization of ICT in the classroom setting so that the learner will interact in the discussion. Science curriculum in K-12 particularly in Senior High School program has been changed to attain the new targets and challenges of science.

The modern world continues to evolve along with the new trend in technology. In present time, learners are more manipulative than to be an attentive listener. So, it is much better to involve new ways in presenting the lesson in more creative way using the ICT. Most of teachers start from a simple integration of ICT by presenting the lesson a colorful presentation. As such, teachers can also generate activities involving the students in collaboration by giving them specific situation in which they use computer based materials to come up with the assigned tasks.

The Information and Communication Technology is an important instrument that can transfer the present isolated, teacher centered and book centered learning environment into a student centered environment, and ICT can change the traditional concept of learning process. Teachers should be aware and responsible in providing their students the essential needs in ICT and delivering the instruction in a best way.
