Fight or Fly, It’s a Tie

To stay for help or to go for good?

It might be the hardest decision for an adulting person. It is the most challenging phase to face. It is the talk of century since the inflation starts to blow up. Wait, which way? Uhm. Let me think first.

Nope, I’ll fight! This might be the most heard answer from a fresh grad looking for work here in the country. For me, after finishing Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Mathematics, I chose to stay and look for a work here inside the country. First, because of the demand of teachers and I think before that the salary is enough for me and my family to survive. There is also this thought that I can help in the economy more effectively and efficiently by staying. The most attributed reason is that you will be with your family and you will go home every night and be with them on special occasions. Staying in your country will cost you not so much until everything starts to blow up. The price, the weather, and also the number of applicants but lesser jobs. Everything starts to change. What I think that will be enough for us is now not enough anymore. Also, I am expanding my family, so things went not well. Seeing this entire thing made me think again. Why not consider...

Okay, I’ll fly. Trying to have the confidence, hiding the sadness, and keeping all reasons just to help the family to have a good, or should I say better way of living. Flying abroad is the hardest and most difficult decision for many because they will be away from their families. They will not be able to meet everyday. They are only allowed by means of the digital connection that sometimes is slow to run. I also experience the feeling of someone who has a loved one away. My husband is away from us in order to supply our needs and have us a better future. I always see how he tries to work hard even he felt the loneliness. The miles and miles distance in between made this hard. I also tried to consider flying but as what I see to my husband it made me think not only twice but many times. All though it can provide you better, your profession will be left behind because more likely you will become a nanny, domestic helper, or factory worker abroad but having a greater amount of salary compared on working your profession in the country.

It is indeed hard to choose which path you will walk on. But one thing is for sure, even if you work inside the country or choose to go abroad, as long as you have dignity as you do work, it’s a tie for both. Both are respected. Both are considered heroes of the 21st century era. Both “professions” deserve a salute. The important is that you are doing it not only for yourself and family but also for the country. Both are challenging but, Filipinos are known to be determined in whatever. Fight or fly? Well, it is a tie.
