PROJECT SOLAR: A PANACEA
JAYSON M. FLORES
Bro. Andrew Gonzalez Technical High School (BAGTech) is a Technical & Vocational School mandated to operate under Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Regulation with a Curriculum of K to 12 STVEP and Classified as Arts and Trades, offering eight specializations under Industrial Arts (IA), Home Economics (HE), and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). These eight specializations are equipped with five welding machines in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), electronics equipment in Electronic Products Assembly and Servicing (EPAS), tools and equipment in Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM), 178 units of Computers in Internet Computer Fundamentals (ICF) and Computer System Servicing (CSS), tools and equipment in Food Trades, Hi-Speed Sewing Machines in Garments and Beauty Care Services, as well as other electronic devices in our offices. In addition, all rooms are provided with flat screen television sets.
Thus, the school actually consumes electricity with a minimum monthly bill of P 42,000 and is already affecting the Kilo Volt Amp (KVA) Transformer (newly purchased last June 4, 2018).
It is just then that BAGTECH decided to come up with an innovation and yours truly already presented the innovation Project Solar to Schools Division Office of Pampanga to reduce the monthly electric bill and to secure the transformer of the school. The mounting of Solar Energy as an innovation will be a great help to augment the needs of the student, to lessen the consumption of Electricity and to protect the power supply of Branch 1 and Branch 2 of the main line. Likewise, it will improve the performance outputs of our students.
Project Solar is composed of some of the select BAGTech Teachers who will be trained for installing and maintaining the said project.
However, the goal does not end there. BAGTech also envisions to manage and conduct its own installation of Solar Panels to other schools to expand Income Generating Project (IGP) in the future. It is also our way of sharing the benefits of Project Solar to others.
