MAGIC OF WASTES
MARITES C. LUCIANO
Solid waste management is a prevailing problem not only in the country but around the world. It taught man to be responsible and make initiatives to solve this problem which was notably created by man himself. It led man to be creative by reducing, reusing, recycling wastes into useful materials to eradicate problems on trash. Schools and homes are agents of change and advocate the efforts of man to solve this problem.
The presence of this problem brought the rise of environmental warriors and protectors. People developed camaraderie, sense of accountability and creativity unconsciously. The beauty of unity and working together exalted the strength in every human heart and effort. Material Recovery Facilities were constructed every barangay and school. Various projects and programs were not only developed to foster awareness on the consequences of waste production and mismanagement but most importantly to highlight the capacity of man to solve the problem. The consensus efforts of schools, parents, community, non-government organizations and local governments intensified the war against waste.
Mother Earth is crying out loud and asking for everyone’s help. It is about time to open our ears to hear her cry, open our eyes to see what man’s carelessness and ignorance had done to her, use our hand to join together and save Mother Earth from man’s shortcomings. Let us make a move and do the magic of wastes.
