THE ABCs OF LEARNING

-

ROSALYN C. DAVID

In today’s generation, there are a lot of distractions that will make a student a little bit confused on what to prioritize and what to focus on. One trending example is “facebook”. The day would not be completed without taking time to know the latest happenings in other people’s lives, how are they doing, and what are they up to. Another is by taking pictures here and there, “selfie” or “groupie” as it is famously called. There are many things the internet can offer which makes student forget their goal.

Discipline is what matters most. Try to follow these tips so that it will not only do you good but excel in school as well.

Avoid absences.

Bring your notes always for you to have something to read on before the class.

Come to school at least 15 minutes earlier.

Develop the habit of reading.

Engage in school activities.

Focus, do not bring mobile phone or gadget that will distract you (put your mobile phones in silent either, you can still receive important messages) .

Give yourself a break sometimes, rest for a while for the next lesson.

Help your classmates if they need to.

Identify the subject that you think you need to be guided and ask for help.

Jot down notes for personal use as review to lessons that you hadn’t got.

Know your abilities, skills, and talent then do something to develop it.

Listen attentively to class discussions don’t hesitate to ask the teacher if there are doubts or lessons you don’t understand (for sure you will be appreciated; it shows that you are willing to learn).

Make a schedule of important things you need to do (first thing’s first).

Never break your schedule, discipline is a must.

Organize the things inside your bag (that’s one factor that you are disciplined).

Practice self-discipline; try not to let someone ask you to do it. Make it a habit.

Quit minding other people’s business, work on your own, unless someone asks you.

Research, don’t just settle on basic knowledge or information, it is just as if you want to get a second opinion.

Sing, dance, draw, and eat nutritious food for the brain when you need one… to break the monotony.

Think of something that will motivate you to go to school.

Use your talent; show it, not everybody has it. Believe that it is a gift from God and He has the reason for giving you that gift, find your purpose.

Vent your feeling, opinions, and ideas after thinking about it if you need to. Wear proper uniform, it is a school rule.

Xerox borrowed notes or lecture that you missed for you to study. Yearn to learn new things and explore every day, you’ll be surprised that there are so many things that life and the world can offer you.

Zeal success! Ask the Lord for guidance and He will protect you, support you, and most especially He will give your heart’s desire.
