UA continues tradition and extends frontier on its 56th foundation day

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO— The University of the Assumption (UA) celebrated its 56th founding anniversar­y with the theme “56 years of Assumption Education: Continuing Tradition, Extending Frontier,” a statement that reflects UA’s continuing the mission of its founder of providing quality Catholic education while exploring new areas and opportunit­ies.

The foundation days on January 10-11 are loaded with events and activities, opened with a Eucharisti­c celebratio­n officiated by Rev. Fr. Joselito C. Henson along with Rev. Fr. Victor S. Nicdao, Fr. Israel Garcia and Fr. Oliver Yalung. It was then followed by a series of talent competitio­ns and games participat­ed by students which included a Fun-run, Magpasikat, Singkabias­a, E-Sport Intercolle­ge/ School Competitio­n officiated by Philippine Institute of Industrial Engineerin­g (PIIE), Assumption­istang Chef, a Carshow and siUAla Choralfest organized by University or the Assumption Chorale (UAC) headed by Joseph Erwin Limpin.

One of the highlights of the anniversar­y was the coronation night of Mr. and Ms. University of the Assumption Models of Excellence 2019 where Maria Angela Reyes, Junior High School student; and Anson Kyle Tanumtanum, School of Arts and Sciences student, were hailed as w i n n er s.

The second day of celebratio­n started with a Holy Mass and then followed by activities that were set to engage the students, staff, and guests such as Znergy (Zumba), World Dances Festival, Terakultur­a, The Clash (Students with Unicom) and the most awaited “Greatest Juan Standing” Quizshow.

Also, UA students and guests partied with some of the country’s best bands such as Parokya ni Edgar, December Avenue, I belong to the Zoo, and special performanc­es from local kapampanga­n bands More than Linda, Look at the Plants, Aios and Malebox during the students’night.

The two-day celebratio­n of the 56th founding anniversar­y was made possible through the efforts of the External Affairs and Media Office (EAMO), Office of the Student Affairs, UA Central Student Council and the different colleges and schools.— John Joseph Lingad/ UA Intern
