LEADING YOUR TEACHERS TO A STRESS-FREE ENVIRONMENT

- GERALDINE M. SAN LUIS

Every Filipino deserve to have quality education. It is clearly reiterated in the DepEd mission that the department should protect and promote the right of every Filipino to quality, equitable, culturebased, and complete basic education. It is equally important that as a steward in the organization, we should lead our school in producing competent teachers and transforming them to become more effective in their endeavor in order to achieve this mission. We must consider varied ways to extend utmost efforts and considerations for a friendly and stress-free working environment in honing the lives of our children. But teachers are exhausted with school- related paper works, job burn-out and work-related pressure which greatly affect their performance in teaching. Too much stress can aggravate the proficiency of teachers.

As a school head, we must intensify programs on stress-free related management activities. These programs need to be reflected on the School Development Plan as part of the Learning Action Cell to achieve a successful and fruitful school year. It can be done once in a while to ascertain a working relationship between the school head and teachers. The coolest way to instill awareness on stressfree environment is through meditation, dance workshop, recreational games, socialization, and having a great time with your colleagues. These can intensify the eagerness, resistance, endurance, and competence of teachers in their profession which in the latter can achieve satisfied, well-contented and better performance towards work.

Significantly, a stress-free working environment can increase academic performance and achievement in the lives of our school children. Teachers are more effective, efficient, competent and competitive in imparting knowledge and wisdom as they feel happy working with their superior and children in a child friendly and stress-free environment.
