THE WORLD OF TEACHERS

- MA. ROLETTE R. DELOS SANTOS

The profession that will give you lots of children. In a classroom situation, diversity is indeed evident. It is a daily challenge that teachers are facing. Every single day we spent in school is never the same as the other ones we had. In the whole school year, we may face the same learners but their actions will never be the same as yesterday. They have different moods, backgrounds and lives. We are dealing with various people whom we get to interact throughout their school life.

We teachers might have loads of paper works, stressful and tiring days. There are times that we also forget about ourselves. After seeing the faces of the learners, everything feels so light. This is when I know that teaching is really the profession for me. Being able to consider the learners’ need first before anything else. Taking different roles is really something that we are practicing. We become nurse, doctors, lawyers, police and above all we become parents. I can say that it is a really fulfilling endeavor.

At times, we get spend our personal money just to meet the needs of our learners in school. But that does not matter, as long as they learn positive attitude that will help them get through life. The joy of a teacher is when we got to see them excel and improve in different aspects. Like a parent, our learners’ milestones are also ours, their happiness is also ours and we can also feel their tears.

Indeed, being a teacher will cause you so much, but at the end of the day, it is their happiness that matters. That is more than enough for us to continue making a difference.
