Widus foundation to support Candaba town public hospital
CLARK FREEPORT — The Widus Foundation Incorporated (WFI) has vowed to provide support to a public hospital in Candaba town.
WFI Manager Ronnel Golimlim said this is in line with the foundation’s Health Advocacy program.
Golimlim said the WFI is implementing its Medical Equipment Donation and Supplies (MEDS) project.
In relation with the project, WFI executive director Agnes “Neki” Liwanag and Canbaba town councilor Carol Foz led the agreement signing during the Talk Widus media forum of the Pampanga Press Club and the Widus Hotel and Casino yesterday.
Golimlim said the Candaba infirmary receives its funding from the local government of Candaba unlike the 10 district hospitals in Pampanga which are funded by the provincial government.
The Widus Foundation has partnered with the municipal government of Candaba to implement the project, according to Golimlim.
He said the foundation believes in three values — “access to quality health care service is a basic human right, hospitals and rural health units are very important institutions for the economic and social well-being of society, every life has equal value and each client deserves to have access to quality health care.”
The Candaba infirmary was established in 2015 and it served more than 14,000 patients at the end of 2017, Golimlim said.
In 2018, the number of patients had increased and the municipal hospital needs additional medical equipment and supplies, the foundation executive added.
The Candaba infirmary is aiming to be a Level One Department of Health (DOH)-accredited hospital this year, Golimlim said.
“We hope to help them with this program,” he said.
There 42 medical personnel in the infirmary with 16-bed capacity.
The local government has three health units which serves 33 barangays, Golimlim said.
WFI officials recently coordinated with Candaba Mayor Danilo “Boy” Baylon in relation with the implementation of the project.
“Our proposal was approved and we created a technical working group to implement the project. Our aim is to help the infirmary achieve Level 1 DOH hospital accreditation,” Golimlim said.
