LEARNING ABOUT PRIORITIZATION

-

SHERILYNNE N. MENDOZA

While working in this time requires multi-tasking skills, it is not to say that we must really do all tasks at the same time, never minding the quality of output being produced from doing all the tasks at the same time.

A good worker must be able to set her objectives or targets as the first day of the work week starts. This way, he can manage his time, effort, talent and resources efficiently and effectively. This can be achieved by knowing the Principles of prioritization.

Less is More. According to this principle, while we can never increase the hours of the day, we can always increase our focus and creativity. We can focus on fewer priorities like finishing all your work backlogs and attending to missed meetings. It is not about having many programs or projects but truly discerning what is the most important target that you should work. So the secret, write only fewer priorities, and you will achieve more. When you limit yourself to 7-10 goals annual goals, you will be more likely to achieve your goal s

The other principle that I will cite is from Dr. Stephen Covey. In his book, “Putting first things first” is the 3rd Habit of Most Effective People. It means organizing and executing around your most important priorities. This habit is about life management, purpose, values and priorities. It is living and being driven by the principles you value most, not by the agendas and forces surrounding you.” You learn to organize and manage time and events according to the personal priorities if you put first things first.
