TEACHERS’ ENHANCED TECHNOLOGY JOURNEY TOWARDS EFFICIENCY

-

ALISTAIR CLARIZ C. CANO

Nowadays, there is a growing trend towards integrating Information and Communication Technology into teaching. This new technology enhances teachers’efficiency, thereby education.

As educators in the 21st century, we are charged with molding students to be successful in a complex, interconnected world. This responsibility requires schools to prepare students for technological, cultural, economic, informational, and demographic changes.

Resistance among teachers to adopt it can be a result of a lack of confidence or fear of using ICT for learning. Teachers often worry that their digital knowledge level are not upgraded enough to meet the demands of instilling learning to pupils using ICT. This distracts them from one of the advantages of ICT skills for educators: being able to facilitate lessons more effectively using digital technologies.

Classroom education is increasingly moving away from lecturing students to a more collaborative project based model. Digital technology plays a fundamental role in this.

Training in ICT needs to be recognized as essential for teaching skills and as an enabler of other teaching and learning practices. Aside from the intensive training or seminar, teachers may have coaching or mentoring from other teachers who are computer literate which entails lesser expenses.

In order to become a confident user of ICT in the classroom, teachers should understand and appreciate the benefits of digital literacy in their efficiency.

Perhaps effective teaching is timeless and yet, evolves with the tools of the times.
