Mayor Boking was (is) a legend

-

MAKE NO MISTAKE ABOUT IT. Mayor Marino “Boking” Morales is apolitical legend in Mabalacat City.

It is indisputable that since 1995, Mayor Boking has lorded it over this progressive city, baffling even the keenest political observers and analysts on why he has stayed for so long in Mabalacat politics.

Affectionately called political scientist by followers, friends and supporters, Mayor Boking got his political baptism and training from his idol, the late Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin, the original political scientist and mentor. Like him (Tarzan), he has endured various challenges in the political arena.

On the latest plunder charges, Mayor Boking says these were premature as he has filed in September 2018 an appeal over the COA findings and has six month-reprieve before these can finally be filed. The process observed by his detractors, says Boking, was irregular and therefore flawed. He has yet to receive the action on his appeal.

He claims that he is unbeatable, referring to his outing as City Vice Mayor. He cites his wide, massive and deep reservoir of following and support compared to his rival, Atty. Geld P. Aquino, who, the mayor claims, cannot decide on his own but refers all issues to be decided to his mother that’s why he branded Geld as “Asma” as in Ask my mother before he decides on issues, a nono for an elective official.

On his latest foray into the political arena, Mayor Boking opted to run as City Vice Mayor in keeping with his long-uttered commitment to his then Vice Mayor Christian C. Halili that he will give way to Christian for his mayoralty bid.

And now, the die is cast. Mayor Boking will stage his vaunted charisma and vote-getting power against a perennial topnotcher, the self-annointed abogodo ng masa, Geld Pineda Aquino, Boking’s nephew no less.

The stage is now set for the epic battle: Mayor Crisostom C. Garbo versus sitting City Vice Mayor Christian C. Halili for the mayoralty post; ertswhile Mayor Boking Morales versus Atty. Geld P. Aquino for the city vice mayor post.

The battle promises to give Mabalacat electorate a very interesting tiff complete with brickbats, charges and counter charges. What an exciting show this promises to be.

Still, Mayor Boking continues to be a legend.
