We have a legal basis on the restructured curriculum based on RA 9155 on which schools were given this much freedom to design their own curriculum? Because that is the spirit of the new law that gave birth to the Department of Education(DepEd). The old Department of Education, Culture and Sports(DECS) is dead; the days of strict and stifling curricular regulation from above are over. Today, schools-which are closet to the students that they have to mold into full human beings who love their country-are given the authority to decide for themselves, what they want to teach and how they want to teach it. Public schools have been empowered pedagogical matters are now school-based. In a sense, academic freedom , which is guaranteed by the Constitution only for the university level, has been brought down to the level of basic education. But that is no ther story, or maybe, that is the real story of the newly structured Curriculum.(Isagani R. Cruz,2002)
