LIS - WHAT IS IT? ADVANTAGE OR DISADVANTAGE ?

As a term referred “Learners Information System” a system for maintaining the registry aimed at meeting the following objectives: track learners progress/ performance; provide learner information for better program planning and supervision of school and learning centers; enhance management of learners records; facilitate the incorporation of the LRN ( Learners Reference Number ) in all record which refer to the learner; generate summary of reports which included the age profile and total enrolment. However, there are things needs to consider like: Is the system accessible at all times? Is the system accurate in saving files? Who’s to blame the one who encodes or the system errors? What is the appropriate time duration in encoding data esp. for elementary and grade 7 teachers?

On the other hand, problems also occurred during the implementation of the said program by the Department of Education, Since there are educators in the department that are not literate in computer and gadget related materials used, the implementation took time. The agency need to conduct training for them to cope up with the improving technological changes. Aside from that, the teacher’s major complain about the LIS is the difficulty to access. This is the reason why teachers need to work late at night or early in the morning just to accomplish required information to update in the system. However, despite of the problems encountered in implementation of the system, it is the fact that teachers must embrace.
