MONITORING PRIVATE SCHOOLS
DIVINA GRACIA D. DIZON
The Department of Education (DepEd) is formulating a new policy on monitoring of private schools.
The policy will include forming the participatory monitoring and evaluation team composed of schools heads, local government units from the barangay, municipality, province and region, parents association, and association of private schools administrators and the DepEd.
Under the policy, prevention of operation of schools with permits, performance of private schools, quality of private schools, and compliance of private schools to laws and regulations will be strictly monitored.
The proposed policy focuses on private schools since it is only the quality assurance division of DepEd that monitors these schools.
Also under the policy will be the need to cascade the information on the standards of private schools and its compliance to DepEd policies, as well as its pilot testing.
